The Indian Intelligence agencies have found out 42 Chinese

Apps as “DANGEROUS” apps. These apps give the risk of losing a potential Cyberattack against India.

The advisory circulated that the intelligence agencies against the use of these apps which are developed by Chinese developers say these were categorized as malware and spyware.

The authorities warned India’s security personnel, including the Indian Army, that applications like UC Browser, WeChat, SHAREit, Truecaller and few other apps must not be used. As there is a risk of a potential security breach.

The Advisory said, “As per reliable inputs, a number of Android/IOS apps developed by Chinese developers or having Chinese links are reportedly either spyware or other malicious ware. Use of these apps by our force personnel can be detrimental to data security having implications on the force and national security.”

One app has issued a clarification…

TrueCaller app has given a response to this claim. The developer of the app said, “In response to certain reports, we would like to clarify that we are a Sweden based company.” “We are not sure why the app is on this list, but we’re investigating. Truecaller is not a malware, and all our features are permission-based and are disabled by default.”

At present whoever is using the apps which are on the list, for them, the intelligence agencies have asked to uninstall the apps. The user must uninstall it and format their devices.

The Advisory said, “If some of them are already using any of these apps, they should be asked to immediately uninstall the app and format their smartphones.”
