Airtel Has Launched VoLTE Service In Mumbai! How to get VoLTE service & supported devices

Bharti Airtel has brought out its new VoLTE service in Mumbai. Airtel has launched the service on Monday after PTI reported about the India’s largest telecom operator in discussion with the multiple handset makers to bring a 4G smartphone at a low price of Rs. 2500. Airtel VoLTE works with 4G network and will offer the customers the high quality of voice calls with faster call set up time. This service will be available on 4G/LTE which allows the mobile phones which have an Airtel 4G SIM.

The good thing is the customers would not be charged extra for VoLTE and will be billed as per the existing plans and pack offers. According to the official statement by the Directors of Bharti Airtel, Abhay Savargaonkar said, ”This is a significant milestone in Airtel’s network transformation journey under Project Leap. Airtel has built a world-class 4G network across India and with the VoLTE compatible device ecosystem beginning to mature, we believe it’s the right time to enable VoLTE calling as part of our service portfolio. Over the next few months, we will rapidly accelerate the deployment of VoLTE to cover all key geographies to bring HD quality calling to our customers. We keenly look forward to our device partners enabling Airtel VoLTE on their smartphones..”

The telecom operator has more than 260 million subscribers in India. As of now, Airtel has launched the 4G VoLTE feature in Mumbai and soon it will be launched in other cities too. The company is not charging any additional charge for VoLTE service, it clarified.

Here Is How Will You Get Airtel VoLTE

  • 1. Check the similarity of the smartphone. You can check it by visiting the official site airtel.in/volte. If your phone is not yet together then don’t worry the company will keep adding models in the list.
  • 2. Update the operating software of your mobile phone to the latest version which supports VoLTE. This update is provided by the handset manufacturer.
  • 3. Make sure your device has an Airtel 4G SIM. If you don’t have 4G SIM then go the nearest Airtel store and upgrade the 4G SIM.

The customers with dual SIM smartphones have to make sure that Airtel 4G SIM must be inserted in data SIM slot 1. The network mode must be set as “4G/3G/2G (Auto),” as per the official report.
