Sharp Aquos R2 Compact With Dual Notch Display Launched, The Japanese multinational company, Sharp Corporation launched a new smartphone in Japan dubbed as Sharp Aquos R2 Compact Smartphone. This smartphone comes with a unique feature that is Dual notches on the front, which has not seen till now in any smartphone. One waterdrop shaped notch is on top of the display housing the camera sensor, while a slightly wider notch sits at the bottom, housing the fingerprint scanner.

Moving onto the details, the smartphone features a 5.2 inch full HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and 2.5D tempered glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Storage can be further extended with a microSD slot upto 512GB.
Talking about the camera, The Sharp Aquos smartphone include a 22.6 megapixel rear camera with sensor with high speed autofocus, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, and electronic hand shake correction as well. On the front, there is an 8 megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture.
As for connectivity options the device include 4G VoLTE, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and USB Type C port. The Sharp Aquos R2 Compact dimensions are at 131x64x9.3mm, and the smartphone weighs 135 grams. Earlier, The Chinese brand launched Aquos Zero smartphone in Japan. Highlight of the Aquos Zero Handset is its OLED panel made in house, its display notch, 6GB RAM, and water and dust resistance capabilities. The Sharp Aquos Zero has a display notch and a thin chin at the bottom edge of the display.
At the back of the smartphone there is single camera and fingerprint sensor as well. It features a magnesium frame and an aramid fibre back panel for durability. It supports stereo speakers and face unlock as well. The handset runs on Android 9 Pie and features a 6.22 inch (1440x2992 pixels) WQHD OLED display measures 154x73x8.8mm, weighs 146 grams. It comes with support for the DCI P3 color space and Dolby Vision. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 octa core SoC with Adreno 630 GPU and 6GB of RAM. Storage in the smartphone is 128GB.
In terms of optics, the smartphone features a 22.6 megapixel rear sensor with f/1.9 aperture and an adjacent 8 megapixel front sensor as well. It packs a 3,130mAh battery and is IPX5/IPX8/IP6X certified for water and dust resistance. As for the connectivity options it include 4G VOLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, GPS, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm audio jack.
