Google has officially launched its Pixel 10 Series, and soon it will offer one of the most important and exciting feature that could convince people to buy its new Pixel phones that support WhatsApp voice & video calls over satellite.
Hello guys, welcome to the Earticle Blog, we are back again with the latest tech news that Google has officially launched its Pixel 10 Series smartphones that support WhatsApp voice & video calls over satellite, an exciting new feature added by Google.

It means that if you wander off to an area where your Pixel 10 smartphone’s network is not getting any network, then you can make a WhatsApp call through its stallite connection feature.
Until now, phones with satellite support were limited to SOS alerts or location sharing. However, Google is changing the lineup, with the Google Pixel 10 series becoming the first smartphone to support WhatsApp audio and video calls via satellite. The recently launched flagship smartphones, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, selling from August 28, the day the phones begin shipping.
WhatsApp Voice & Video Calls in No Network Zones
On a post on X, formerly Twitter, Google announced that the Pixel 10 Series will get support for Voice and Video calls on WhatsApp over a satellite network beginning August 28. Moreover, this also marks the official availability of the Pixel 10 series smartphones following their preorder phase.
With this, Google will provide support on its new flagship Google Pixel Phones for 7 years (i.e., 2032), which will also include OS updates, Security updates, feature drops, and AI innovations.

In addition, the tech giant also released a video offering more insight into the feature functionality. The clip shows a Pixel 10 managing a WhatsApp call, with a satellite icon visible in the status bar. It further demonstrates that Pixel 10 users can receive calls even without access to a mobile network or an internet connection.

Automatically Shifts to Satellite Mode
The special highlight of this feature is that it won’t require the internet for satellite calling. Google has launched this feature in collaboration with the Tensor 5G chipset and satellite connectivity. Google said that, “if there is no network available, the phone will automatically switch to satellite mode“.
NOTE: Users will simply need to enable the WhatsApp calling option in the settings. However, Google has clarified that this service will work only with selected carriers, and an extra charge may be applied for this.
While SpaceX has been hinting at its role, indicating the company’s cellular Starlink Service will enable voice and video calls via WhatsApp. Michael Nicolls, Starlink Engineering VP, shared the clip with the note: Voice and Video coming to Starlink, direct-to-cell.
3 Limitations of Satellite Calling Feature
- It remains uncertain that satellite calling will work reliably in all weather conditions and regions, as heavy rain and thick cloud may weaken the signals.
- WhatsApp has not made an official announcement regarding the rollout of this feature to all users.
- Experts in media reports highlight that security and privacy are crucial concerns, since satellite data transfer may be vulnerable to hacking.
- The price is a bit of a concern; the starting price of the Pixel 10 is Rs 79,999, the Pro model is Rs 1.09 lakh, and the Pro XL is Rs 1.24 lakh.
- If the additional charges for satellite calling may be applied, then it will be a bit out of reach for common users.
Who will benefit from it?
It will be beneficial for those living in remote areas. This feature can be especially beneficial for travellers, adventure lovers, and others. It would also be ideal for those who used to live in mountain ranges, hilly areas, or places where the weather is a challenging concern.

It had a huge impact on its competitors like Samsung, Apple, and others, after the launch of its Pixel 10 series with WhatsApp voice & video calling support feature that revolutionized the smartphone market.
