What’s the Aim For the Development of Quantum 5G FWA

Quantum 5G FWA: Connectivity Without Limits, Made in India: BSNL’s latest offering is the SIM-less BSNL Q-5G FWA service. A. Robert, J. Ravi, BSNL’s Chairman and Managing Director, emphasized that its primary aim and core purpose are to deliver 100% secure, reliable internet connectivity to enterprises, gated communities, and individual homes.

What truly sets it apart is its foundation on ‘homegrown’ 5G technology, carefully crafted in partnership with Indian collaborators.

Hyderabad’s tech-savvy ecosystem was deliberately chosen as the launch site for this “next-generation access portfolio.” As Mr. Ravi noted, the entire system operates on BSNL’s direct-to-device platform and is powered by a fully indigenous stack core designed and integrated by indian vendors under the ambitious ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative.

This marks a major step in establishing India as a key contributor to advanced telecom innovations.

What does it deliver?

Lightning Fast Speed & Hassle Free Setup: The Quantum 5G FWA delivers gigabit-class speeds, redefining digital experiences. It is ideal for demanding applications such as Ultra HD (UHD), streaming, immersive, cloud gaming, and smooth remote work.

A standout feature is its “rapid install gateway,” which eliminates the need for time-consuming trenching or fiber development. This smart approach allows the service to cover up to 85% of Hyderabad households by leveraging BSNL’s existing tower network.

BSNL is gearing up for a major pilot expansion by September 2025, with cities like Bengaluru, Pondicherry, Vishakhapatnam, Pune, Chandigarh, and Gwalior expected to benefit from this advanced connectivity. The Introductory tariff plans are set to be highly competitive in price, offering 100 Mbps at Rs 999 and 300 Mbps at Rs 1499 per month, making high-speed internet more accessible than ever.

Beyond FWA: Building a Robust Digital Ecosystem

BSNL’s strategic expansion is not limited to fixed wireless access. It also encompasses key initiatives such as:

Micro Data Centres: These compact, self-sufficient units provide localized computing resources, storage, and networking. Serving as a strong alternative to traditional cloud solutions, they are especially ideal for sectors requiring quick access to data, such as healthcare (for medical imaging), manufacturing plants, and retail stores. Soon, enterprises will be able to lease virtual servers and dedicated rack space within BSNL’s data centres.

International Gateway: This crucial infrastructure links India’s domestic telecom network to global networks, ensuring high-quality voice, SMS, and data communications for a smooth international internet experience.

Looking ahead, BSNL is actively involved in 6G development with government support. Mr.Ravi shared a visionary perspective, stating that in the 6G Era, “each mobile phone will act as an antenna,” paving the way for even more widespread and sophisticated connectivity.
